The Gmina Czorsztyn ( listen ? / I ) is a rural municipality in the powiat Nowotarski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the village of Maniowy with 2400 inhabitants, it is named after the place Czorsztyn with about 400 inhabitants. Audio file / audio sample

geography

The municipality is located between the Pienines and Gorce on the Czorsztyn reservoir , which was created by damming the Dunajec .

The rural community borders Slovakia in the south .

history

Between 1969 and 1996, a 56 m high dam and a hydroelectric power station on the Dunajec river were built a little south of the Niedzica castle . The Czorsztyn reservoir was created. The village of Czorsztyn disappeared under the surface of the water and a new settlement was built nearby.
