Goran Jeretin ( Serbian - Cyrillic Горан Јеретин ; born September 17, 1979 in Nikšić , SR Montenegro ) is a Montenegrin basketball player . First-class clubs only became aware of Jeretin relatively late. After stints in his home country, he had a short-term contract with the Israeli series champion Maccabi from Tel Aviv in 2007 . In the pre-season preparation of the following season he had a cruciate ligament tear , so that he did not play a championship game for the German first division club ALBA from Berlin in the 2007/08 season . It was not until the 2011/12 season that he played his first games in the German basketball league when he stepped in for another injured player for the Dragons from Artland . Jeretin last played in Cyprus for AEK Larnaka in early 2013 .

Career

Jeretin first played at KK Ibon from his hometown, who played in the second Serbian-Montenegrin Division 1B. In 2001 he moved to the first-class KK Lovćen from Cetinje and was able to recommend himself there, so that from the 2002/03 season he played at the renowned KK Crvena zvezda ( German  BK Red Star ) from the Serbian capital Belgrade . With Red Star he won two Serbian-Montenegrin cup competitions in 2004 and 2006, where he was awarded MVP in the respective finals . In addition, they reached the championship final in 2006, which was lost to local rivals and defending champions KK Partizan Belgrade . Internationally they reached the quarter-finals in the ULEB Cup 2005/06 , which was lost to the eventual title winner MBK Dynamo Moscow . For the following season Jeretin wanted to move to Russia and signed a contract with Dynamo from Saint Petersburg . After the bankruptcy of this club in October 2006, he moved to the leading Montenegrin club KK Budućnost from the capital Podgorica . The multiple Serbian-Montenegrin champion also became a double winner in the premier season of the 2006/07 Montenegrin championship . In the middle of the season, however, Jeretin left the club and finally moved abroad.

In January 2007 he received a contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel, which is part of FIBA Europe and is one of the leading teams in European club competitions. In the Israeli championship, the title was successfully defended for the thirteenth time in a row, while in the top European division ULEB Euroleague 2006/07 in the quarter-final series in a remake of the previous year's final game against defending champion PBK CSKA Moscow . Then his compatriot Luka Pavićević brought him as the new coach of Alba Berlin to the German Bundesliga club for the 2007/08 BBL season . But in the preparation for the season Jeretin seriously injured his knee and subsequently did not play a championship game in that season, as the contingent of foreign players was exhausted due to late registrations. In the following season 2008/09 he played under the Serbian coach Saša Obradović at the Ukrainian runner-up from Kiev . In February 2009 he moved to Cyprus to Proteas AEL in Limassol , where he reached the final four of the EuroChallenge with Goran Nikolić, who was also born in Nikšić and who was active at Alba in the 2007/08 season , where they finished fourth.

In the 2009/10 season Jeretin was initially active again in his home country of Montenegro at KK Budućnost, but that season he did not end at the dominant Montenegrin club, but moved to Turkey in March 2010 to Türk Telekomspor in Ankara , with whom he was eliminated in the play-offs for the Turkish championship in the quarter-finals. In the 2010/11 season he was active in the Russian PBL at Lokomotive Kuban from Krasnodar , with whom he reached the final of the EuroChallenge, which was lost to the Slovenian representative KK Krka from Novo mesto . He then played his first finals with the Montenegrin national team at the 2011 European Basketball Championships in Lithuania together with Milko Bjelica , with whom he had played for four years at Red Star. After an opening win in extra time against Macedonia , they lost all of the following preliminary round games and were eliminated from the tournament early.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season he received a four-week contract from the Lithuanian runner-up BC Lietuvos rytas from Vilnius after the Serbian playmaker Aleksandar Rašić , who was also under contract with Alba Berlin in the 2007/08 season, suffered an injury from the European Championship would have. This contract was not renewed. In November 2011, the German BBL club Artland Dragons signed the development player as a short-term replacement for the injured Bryan Bailey . This contract was not renewed at the end of December after six missions and Jeretin was then signed in mid-January 2012 by the Slovenian record champions Union Olimpija until the end of the season. The following season he signed a contract with AEK Larnaka at the end of the year, where he plays again in the Cypriot Division A. In January 2013, however, Jeretin completed only three games for the club.

  2. After a cruciate ligament tear in the preparation for the season, Jeretin did not play a championship game in the 2007/08 season. However, the contract was not dissolved, so that he was under contract the entire season.
