Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is a best-of album by the US Nu-Metal band KoЯn . It was released on October 4, 2004 on the labels Epic Records and Immortal Records as a standard and limited edition, including DVD.

The songs on the album are mostly previously released singles from the six studio albums released by the band KoЯn (three songs), Life Is Peachy (two tracks), Follow the Leader (two pieces), Issues (four tracks). , Untouchables (two songs) and Take a Look in the Mirror (three songs). A remix of the track Freak on a Leash is also included on the compilation . Only the cover versions Word Up! (Originally by Cameo ) and Another Brick in the Wall (Parts 1, 2, 3) ( Pink Floyd ) were previously unreleased.
The limited-edition DVD also includes seven live recordings of the band 's performance at CBGB's in New York City on November 24, 2003.

Cover design
The album cover is in shades of gray. It shows the barred viewing window of a metal door, behind which the word KoЯn can be seen on a wall. In the lower area of the metal door is the title Greatest Hits Vol. 1 in light gray.

The best-of album reached number 17 in the German charts and stayed in the top 100 for eleven weeks. In the United States, the album was number 4 and left the charts after 41 weeks.
As singles, the songs Word Up! and Another Brick in the Wall (Parts 1, 2, 3) . The former reached position 46 in Germany and stayed in the top 100 for nine weeks.
Sales figures and awards
For more than one million copies sold, Greatest Hits Vol. 1 was awarded a platinum record in the USA in 2005 . The album also received a gold record in the UK in 2013 for over 100,000 units sold .

Alexander Cordas from laut.de rated the album with four out of a possible five points. "After six albums" it was time for a best of that was "definitely recommended for beginners". The compilation depicts the "repertoire of the grains in the most excellent way", only the two cover versions Word Up! and Another Brick in the Wall (Parts 1, 2, 3) are "pretty terrible."
