Gustav Hermann August Graf von Wartensleben (born October 25, 1774 in Marienburg , † April 10, 1834 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian major general .

His parents were the later Prussian Lieutenant General Leopold Alexander von Wartensleben and his wife Karoline Luise Dorothea, born von der Recke (born August 8, 1753 in Prussian Holland ; † April 3, 1825 in Breslau ).

Military career

Wartensleben came to the 1st Battalion of the Guard of the Prussian Army on November 7, 1789 as a private corporal, and was also inspected on November 18, 1789 as a Knight of St. John . On November 28, 1790 he was promoted to ensign and took part in the First Coalition War. He fought in the sieges of Mainz and Landau and in the battle of Kaiserslautern . In the battle of Trippstadt Wartensleben was wounded and for his bravery he received the entitlement to the Domherrenstelle in Brandenburg .

On January 12, 1795 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and on July 15, 1795 appointed Knight of St. John. On July 24, 1798 he was then aggregated as a first lieutenant in the fusilier battalion "von Pelet" and on December 14, 1798 was assigned. Waiting life rose on November 12, 1801 to the redundant staff captain and was transferred to his father's regiment on January 24, 1803 as adjutant general . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the battle of Auerstedt and on the retreat near Nordhausen . The surrender of Magdeburg made waiting life inactive. After the war, Wartensleben was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 24, 1815 , and on June 8, 1816, he joined the 2nd Reichenbacher Landwehr Regiment as a commander. On March 12, 1820 he came as a commander in the 7th Landwehr Regiment, where he became a colonel on March 30, 1822 . On June 18, 1825, he received the Service Cross and on 30 March 1827 his farewell as a major general with board . In addition, he became canon in Brandenburg an der Havel on April 21, 1827 and died on April 10, 1834 in Schweidnitz.

Wartensleben married on May 24, 1797 in Potsdam Friederike Wilhelmine Charlotte Countess von Pinto (* July 15, 1776, † August 26, 1839), a daughter of General Franz Ignatz von Pinto . The marriage was divorced on December 6, 1803. She then married General Eugen Maximilian von Roeder . The couple nevertheless had several children:
