Hüseyin Cahit Hamamcı (born January 1, 1951 in Manisa ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Career

Not much is known about Hamamcı's playing career. He played for the clubs Karşıyaka SK , Altay Izmir and Ödemişspor in the 1970s and 1980s . His move from Altay to Ödemişspor is documented. It is not known whether he worked for Karşıyaka, for whom he was active for the longest, before his time at Altay or after his time at Ödemişspor. It is also documented that he worked for Karşıyaka in 1978.

Coaching career

Hamamcı practiced his first job as head coach in 1986 with the then first division club Diyarbakırspor . He took over this club after his predecessor Yılmaz Gökdel resigned after a 5-0 defeat against Sarıyer SK . Hamamcı looked after the club for eight games and left the club prematurely after only conceding six defeats in these eight games.

In 1987 he became the head coach of his former club Karşıyaka SK for the first time and was dismissed here before the winter break. On matchday 27, Hamanci was in charge of Karşıyaka SK in the match against Gençlerbirliği Ankara, replacing Nevzat Güzelırmak and then handing over his job to Kadri Aytaç . After the 26th day of the first division season 1990/91 he took over Karşıyaka SK for the second time on an interim basis and replaced the dismissed Tamer Kaptan until the end of the season . Hamamcı took over the severely relegation-threatened club in the last place in the table. In the remaining four game days, he and his team collected four points, but still missed relegation as penultimate in the table.

For the next season he took over the second division Ayvalıkgücü and looked after the club for a season.

In the summer of 1992 he left Ayvalıkgücü and was instead presented as head coach at provincial rivals and third division club Çanakkale Dardanelspor . With this club he experienced his most successful season as a coach to date. With his team, he took over the championship lead in the first few days of play and confidently expanded his points lead until the end of the season. In addition, he caused a few surprises with his team in the Turkish Football Cup . In the 1992/93 cup season , the team survived five rounds and was only eliminated in the quarter-finals against Istanbul's top club Galatasaray SK . While only third division teams were eliminated in the first four rounds, they prevailed against second division team Samsunspor in the fifth main round . In the round of 16 they knocked out the first division club MKE Ankaragücü 1-0 and were the only non-first division team among the eight quarter-finalists. This performance in general, and the one against Galatasaray in the quarter-finals in particular, was mentioned appreciatively by the specialist press. Against Galatasaray, Dardanelspor played a hard-fought game and only fell behind with Erdal Keser's goal in the 60th minute and lost with another goal 2-0. In the Lifa, the 1992/93 season ended with a 21-point advantage over the second-placed Tavşanlı Linyitspor and after seven years rose again to the 2nd Futbol Ligi , which was then the second-highest Turkish division. Hamamcı was mentioned by the trade press as an aspiring young trainer because of his achievements. Promoted to the 2nd Lig, he reached the Playoffinals with his team and was subject to Adana Demirspor here .

After Hamamcı had made a name for himself as head coach at Dardanelspor, his home club Karşıyaka SK , who had just been relegated from the 1st Lig , signed him up as head coach for the fourth time. Hamamcı took over with Karşıyaka within a few game days leading the table and finished qualifying round 2 with eleven points ahead of the table and qualified for the promotion round in which the two direct climbers of the league were played off. The promotion round of the second division season 1994/95 concluded Hamamcı also as the leader of the table and reached with his club the direct return to the 1st league. In the 1st league he looked after the team for only two game days and then handed over his position to the English coach Allan John Harris .

After his work at Karşıyaka Hamamcı stayed about ten months without work and only took over the second division Göztepe Izmir in March 1996 . He looked after these clubs until the end of the season and then took over the third division Balıkesirspor for the coming season . After only working here for a few weeks, he left this club and switched to the second division club Erzurumspor . He led this club to 8th place in the table at the end of the season.

In the summer of 1997 he took the offer of third division Izmirspor and from then on looked after this club. He led this club to the championship of the 1997/98 season and thus to promotion to the 2nd Futbol Ligi .

For the new season he left Izmirspor and hired the second division club Zeytinburnuspor . He looked after this club for only a few game days and then took over Karşıyaka SK in September 1998 again as head coach. With his club he missed promotion at the end of the season, so that he left the club again after one season.

For the next season he remained loyal to the 2nd division and took over the promoted Konya SÜ Endüstri SK . With this club he played for a long time for promotion, but missed it at the end of the season. For the new season he changed clubs again and this time took over the league rivals Elazığspor . He also played for a long time with this club for promotion, but also missed promotion with this club in the last match days. In the summer of 2001 he moved to the second division side Kombassan Konyaspor and coached the club for one season without achieving promotion.

For the 2002/03 season he moved to another club and was hired by league rivals Sakaryaspor . His team started here with two victories in the season. On September 8, 2002 the team bus Sakaryaspors came off the road during the outward journey to the away game against Sakaryaspor, overturned and fell into a 15-meter-deep ditch. Five passengers had an accident in this accident, including the sporting manager and the club's former player legend Aykut Yiğit , the top scorer of the 1984/85 season . Hamamcı and ten players were seriously injured in this accident and had to be hospitalized for two days. After this accident all games of Hamamcıs team were postponed until further notice. The club resumed playing on October 23, 2002 with the catch-up game against Sivasspor. The season ended Sakaryaspor despite the circumstances on the 7th place in the table.

For the next season Hamamcı left Sakaryaspor and took over the league rivals Kayseri Erciyesspor . With this club he ended the second division season 2003/04 as runner-up and rose to the Süper Lig . After this success, both sides could not agree on any further cooperation, so the club started with Hüsnü Özkara in the Süper Lig.

After the departure of Erciyesspor Hamamcı took over Karşıyaka SK again and trained him in the first half of the season. Hamamcı did not train a team for a year and a half after his work for Karşıyaka and took over the third division Kardemir Karabükspor for the 2006/07 season .

In the 2012/13 season he worked at Karşıyaka as an assistant coach, assisting his former player Cihat Arslan , whom he had coached at Karşıyaka in the 1990s. At the same time he worked as the club's sporting director.
