HMS Spark was a British Royal Navy submarine during World War II .
history
The Spark ( ger .: Funke ) was a boat of the third construction lot of the successful S-Class . This lot is also known as the Seraph class . She was launched on October 10, 1942 at Scott's Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. in Greenock , West Scotland, launched on December 28, 1943 and was commissioned by the Royal Navy on April 28, 1944.
The Navy deployed the Spark in the Asian theater of war . Under the command of Lt. DG Kent on October 21, 1944 Trincomalee on Ceylon .
In November 1944, two Japanese sailing ships with the deck gun were sunk off the Mergui Islands ( Burma ) . On February 1, 1945, the Spark fired at a Japanese lighter in the western Java Sea and the coaster carrying it with artillery. A tug was also attacked. The three vehicles were destroyed. On the same day, another coaster was attacked off Panjang . On February 8, a Japanese escort attacked the Spark with 16 depth charges . The submarine escaped undamaged.
On March 29 and March 31, 1945, the Spark sank a coaster in the Floressee .
The boat returned to Great Britain in October 1945, was sold for scrapping on October 29, 1949 and then scrapped in Faslane-on-Clyde .
