Lände Roth is a port and industrial area of the district town of Roth in the Central Franconian district of Roth .

geography

The Lände Roth lies east of the urban area of Roth and is a purely industrial area and port of the Main-Danube Canal . The distance to the center of Roth is three and a half kilometers, to Hilpoltstein it is seven kilometers. The area is completely surrounded by woods and is channel 90.7 to 91.1 kilometers west of the attitude Leerstetten the Main-Danube canal. Three and a half kilometers to the southwest are the Rothsee and the Eckersmühlen lock . The terrain is naturally completely flat at an altitude of 356 m above sea level and borders the Franconian sand axis .

history

The area was developed from the mid-1980s as part of the construction work on the Main-Danube Canal. The port went into (bagging) operation in 1987, five years before the canal was fully completed. This is why there is a turning facility for large motorized goods ships with a length of up to 110 m directly at the port of Roth . In 1988 the crane runway was installed with a luffing crane that could carry up to 16 tonnes and the first industrial companies moved in. In 1992, for the official inauguration of the canal, Roth celebrated its 5th anniversary with a large harbor festival. Another major port festival took place in 2010 on the Lände on the occasion of the 950th anniversary of the city of Roth.

Commerce and infrastructure

Of the total area of approx. 53 hectares designated for the Roth region, 19 hectares have so far been used. Another 5.8 hectares are required by the port facilities and 0.2 hectares by the Motoryacht Club Roth as club premises. Mainly stones, bulk goods, fodder and fertilizers as well as metal waste are handled; In 2013 it was more than 75,000 tons. Several companies in the transport, storage and logistics industry have settled here, two natural stone dealers and a vehicle recycling company; a restaurant offers lunch for their staff and excursionists on weekdays. Sporadic logs from the southern Reichswald are also shipped here. In the port of Roth, three motorized goods ships with a length of 110 m or two push convoys of 185 m length can moor at the same time , but only one can be lifted or loaded at a time. The roads in Lände Roth are dimensioned for heavy-duty traffic up to 70 tons. A connection to the rail traffic would also be possible without a lot of land use via the former landfill near Hofstetten to the Roth - Hilpoltstein branch line 1.5 km away, but has not yet been established due to a lack of demand.

250 meters to the north there is a separate landing stage with a floating pontoon and a secured landing stage for passenger shipping, which is only used very rarely. Occasionally, buses are used here, for example when going ashore for sightseeing, to local restaurants or when the canal is broken down.

Others

There is a tank passage next to the harbor, which is also available on both sides of the canal as a slipway for pleasure craft. The one on the west side is used quite often by the local yacht club and a non-local boat driving school, while the east side and the turn of the ship are more popular with bathers. Next to the slipway west there is a small rest area where barbecuing is tolerated within moderate limits. Because of its quiet location at night and the generous traffic areas, this rest area is regularly visited by truck drivers who are familiar with the area in order to take their rest times there. Since the uninhabited area is well secured with partly high-resolution cameras, this is relatively safe despite the seclusion.

On weekdays during the day there is an hourly scheduled taxi as line 608.5, which is often used by commuters and goes directly to the country.
