In 1952 the village community founded the shooting club Hamerstorf ev, the club has about 60 members (as of 2014).
Once a year the farmers' bill , the children's carnival , the Easter bonfire and the shooting festival take place.
There is a "green path" between Holxen and Hamerstorf to explain the surrounding fields.

The defining element in Hamerstorf is the double-track railway line from Hamburg to Hanover , which borders the village in the west. It bridges a side connection to Klein Süstedt.
