Hans Riedl (politician)

Hans Riedl (born April 8, 1892 in Aholming , Deggendorf district ; † November 6, 1962 in Passau ) was a German manager and local politician ( CSU ). In 1948 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Passau.

Life

After completing his studies, Riedl was obliged to do military service. In 1916 he took part in the Battle of the Somme and was taken prisoner by the English. After his release, he studied economics at the University of Munich and from 1920 worked as in-house counsel for the Bavarian Milk Traders Association. In 1922, Riedl became director of the skin and fur recycling GmbH in Passau.

He was a co-founder of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria and from 1948 to 1960 city councilor in Passau. He was Lord Mayor of Passau from June 30, 1948 to July 28, 1948.

Riedl was a member of the Lower Bavaria District Assembly from 1954 to 1958.

In 1957 he was appointed Knight of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in Munich on April 30, 1957 by Bishop Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
