Hans Hösl (born March 21, 1929 in Passau ; † June 19, 2008 in Vilshofen an der Donau ) was a German politician ( CSU ) and Lord Mayor of Passau.

Life and work

After graduating from high school Leopoldinum in Passau, Hans Hösl completed his studies as a teacher with the additional qualification of teaching at the special needs school. From 1956 to 1966 he taught at the special school in Passau learning and mentally handicapped children. From 1966 to 1990 Hans Hösl worked as a professional politician in Passau and Lower Bavaria.

Hans Hösl was married and had five children. His uncle-in-law was the Bavarian Senator and Chamber of Crafts President Gustav Haydn , he was close friends with the Bavarian State Parliament member Hermann Wösner , the Passau District Administrator Baptist Kitzlinger and the CSU politician Karl Fuchs (MdL, MdB, MdEP).

Public offices

Hans Hösl was district councilor and full-time first mayor of the Heining community from 1966 to 1972, and from 1970 to 1972 chairman of the CSU parliamentary group in the Passau district . After the regional reform and the incorporation of Heining into the city of Passau, he was first full-time second mayor of the city of Passau from 1972 to 1984. In the municipal elections in 1984, Hans Hösl was elected Lord Mayor with 63.85% of the votes in the first ballot ; his opponent was then MP Fritz Gerstl . Hans Hösl was in charge of the city of Passau until 1990, when he only lost 48.84 percent of the vote to his successor Willi Schmöller in the runoff election. During his time as Lord Mayor, he was also a member of the Bavarian City Council as chairman for the Lower Bavaria region .

More functions

From 1970 to 1984 he was a member of the supervisory board of Volksbank Passau, then from 1984 to 1990 Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Passau . From 1972 to 1990 Hösl was chairman of the Passau vocational school association. He was very committed to Lebenshilfe in Passau, of which he was first president from 1974 to 2000. From 1985 to 1993 Hans Hösl was chairman of the Passau district association of the Bavarian Red Cross . In the Passau Lampl Brotherhood , he was a member of the board from 1992 to 2006.

Services

During his time as mayor of the Heining community, many public projects were initiated and built by Hans Hösl. These include the development of building areas for 800 residential units, the construction of a primary and secondary school with a gym and sports facility, a swimming pool and an outdoor pool. The sewerage work was continued and the water supply of the Heining community was completely renovated. During this time, Heining's population rose from 5200 to 7200.

During his time as 2nd Mayor and Lord Mayor of the city of Passau, he also devoted himself to improving the infrastructure, especially for families, children and senior citizens. In this way, the housing construction Passau GmbH created affordable living space. In the 18 years of official activity, kindergartens, crèches, day nurseries and holiday kindergarten places were promoted and newly created. The urgently needed renovation of the Bürgerliches Heiliggeist Hospital was tackled, and the living conditions in the Maierhof Hospital were improved.

Furthermore, Hans Hösl initiated and carried out the following projects:
