Jürgen Dupper (born January 22, 1961 in Passau ) is a German politician . As a member of the SPD , he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 2003 to 2008 . Since May 1, 2008 he has been Lord Mayor of the City of Passau.

Life

Dupper visited the Adalbert Stifter grammar school and moved to the college level to the high school Leopoldinum , where he graduated from high school 1,982th After that, he initially worked as managing director of a marketing agency. He has been a member of the Passau City Council since 1990 and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group between 1992 and 1996 and from 2002 to 2008. From 1996 to 2002 Dupper was second mayor of the city of Passau. In October 2003 he was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament, to which he was a member until 2008. From 2006 he was budget spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and deputy chairman of the state budget and financial affairs committee of the Bavarian parliament.

For the local elections on March 2, 2008 , Dupper was nominated as an OB candidate of the SPD . In the first ballot, he emerged victorious with 46.75% of the vote and forced incumbent Albert Zankl into a runoff election , which he won with 61.41%. He had also benefited from the election recommendation of the ödp candidate Urban Mangold , who received 12.65% of the votes in the first ballot. Dupper took up his post on May 1, 2008. Udo Egleder from Dingolfing took over Dupper's state parliament mandate . Urban Mangold was elected second mayor of the city on Dupper's initiative. Jürgen Dupper proposed Anton Jungwirth from the FDP as the third mayor , so that a so-called design majority emerged with the city council groups of the SPD, ödp, FDP and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , which has a nominal 25 of the 44 city council seats.

In the local elections on March 16, 2014 , Jürgen Dupper was confirmed as Lord Mayor of Passau with 64.68% of the vote; in the local elections on March 15, 2020 , he was re-elected in the first ballot with 54.62%.

He is married and has five children.

Honors

Dupper received the Municipal Medal of Merit in Silver in July 2019 .
