Hart am Wind is the sixth studio album by Frei.Wild , the German rock band from Brixen in the Italian province of Bozen-South Tyrol . It was released on October 23, 2009 via the newly founded label Rookies & Kings as a standard and limited edition.
Music style and content
Most of the songs on the album are very rocky, only the titles Bit by Bit and One Day are rather calmer ballads. There are also socially critical songs. Ever higher criticizes, for example, that the megalomania of the people will destroy the environment and nature will fight back, while the band in The Land of the Idiots distances themselves from all political directions. There are also several new recordings of older pieces on the album, including a. also the folk-nationalistic song South Tyrol .
Both versions of Hart am Wind differ in the order of the titles. The limited edition also includes the songs Daheim , Eine Tages , You don't have to put on this shoe and Give me my cardboard again , but the song Sieger stand up where losers are left is missing , which is only on the standard edition is included.
Cover design
The album cover is black and white. It shows a figure in the lower left who can be interpreted as a drummer or a sailor. The typical Frei.Wild lettering is in the upper part of the picture, the title Hart am Wind is on the lower right.

Hart am Wind entered the German album charts at number 15 in the 46th calendar week of 2009 and was at position 50 in the following weeks; 74 and 80 before it left the charts. In total, the album stayed in the top 100 for seven weeks (including the festival edition ).
The first single was the song Das Land der Vollidioten on October 9, 2009 . The second decoupling winners get up where losers lie was released on February 19, 2010. Both songs could not be placed in the charts.
Sales figures and awards
In June 2018, Hart am Wind received a gold record for over 100,000 copies sold in Germany .

The album received mostly average reviews.
- The online magazine laut.de gave the album three out of a possible five points. One certified Close to the wind strong resemblance to the publications of the Böhse Onkelz :
“Over the years, the South Tyroleans have not only earned fans from tough Onkelz supporters. But they would have to grab "Hart Am Wind" without hesitation, because Frei.Wild keep the snotty raw charm of the Onkelz alive like hardly any other band. […] Musically and lyrically the closeness cannot be denied, and so there is dirty rock with various punk and metal elements. Simple, with a lot of fire under your bum and a drive that jumps right to your neck. It's not new, not revolutionary, but it can still give you something. [...] "Hart Am Wind" is raw, in places primitive, but in large parts speaks to me from my soul. The sound belongs in the car, but the quartet shouldn't burn much either live. The disc rocks, has balls and is really fun! "
- The page musikreviews.de gave Hart am Wind eight out of a possible 15 points. The good lyrics and appealing melodies are highlighted, even if there are no surprises:
“Listening to the lyrics is the order of the day, while the music is programmatic melo-punk or - if you mean it badly with the South Tyroleans - German rock in the Böhse-Onkelz atmosphere. [...] Take your life into your own hands and stop playing the whimper. You rarely hear this - and when it does, it is often only as little serious lip service. At FREI-WILD it sounds quite convincing. […] Far away from martial grumbling and stupid fun punk, FREI.WILD present a subtly different picture of German-language rock music. The devil in the details lies more in the lyrics than in the punky, melodic, smoothly staged music with plenty of energy. "

On June 4, 2010 a new version of the album was released under the name Hart am Wind Festival Edition .
Content (FE)
In addition to the pieces by Hart am Wind , the Festival Edition also includes other bonus songs and new recordings. There was also a special edition with a survival box for festivals.
Cover design (FE)
The album cover is the same as the standard edition. Only the black and white color scheme is exactly the opposite and the title Hart am Wind Festival Edition is at the bottom right .

After the release of the festival edition , Hart am Wind succeeded in re-entering the German Top 100 for three weeks at the end of June 2010 (sales of both versions were valued together), where it rose to number 41.
The song This year we get the cup was released as a single, matching the 2010 soccer World Cup . The song entered the German charts at number 66 and, after a temporary exit, occupied positions 71 and 75 before the song finally left the top 100.
