The Heckenstallerstraße is a road in the south of Munich and part of the Middle Ring . It has a length of 1.6 km.

location

Heckenstallerstraße is located about four kilometers southwest of Munich city center and crosses the districts of Sendling-Westpark and Sendling from west to east. It is the boundary of the Munich environmental zone.

The development of the Heckenstallerstraße has developed very heterogeneously. This affects the age of the buildings and their distance from the street as well as the height of the buildings. In the vicinity of Heckenstallerstraße there are few green spaces, as well as opportunities for play and relaxation.

course

Heckenstallerstraße begins at Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz in the Sendling-Westpark district (junction with B 2 - motorway towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen ). It initially runs 150 meters to the southeast. At Murnauer Strasse, the route turns east. The crossing Friedrich-Hebbel-Straße / Höglwörther Straße follows. From here the Heckenstallerstraße has been developed without crossing. After the Passauerstraße exit, the route goes under S7 and thus reaches the Sendling district. Heckenstallerstraße ends at the Plinganserstraße exit ( B 11 ) and turns into Brudermühlstraße . From here there is a connection to the Obergiesing district and to the motorway towards Salzburg .

traffic

The volume of traffic on Heckenstallerstrasse is 103,000 vehicles per day from Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz to Murnauer Strasse, 89,000 vehicles per day to the Friedrich-Hebbel-Strasse / Höglwörther Strasse intersection and 97,000 vehicles per day to Plinganserstrasse.

General

Since the 1970s at the latest, there have been plans to move the Middle Ring underground in southwest Munich. When the Westpark underground station was built (opened in 1983), the construction of a road tunnel was already included in the planning. At the end of the 1980s, the engineering structure was completely planned. At the coalition negotiations on red-green in the Munich city council in 1990, however, at the insistence of the smaller coalition partner , the SPD and the Greens agreed not to pursue any further tunnel projects for the Middle Ring. In the first Munich referendum entitled “The Middle Ring needs three tunnels” on June 23, 1996, the Munich voters decided with a narrow majority in favor of a further expansion of the Middle Ring. After the Petuel , Effner and Richard Strauss Tunnels , the southwest section was the last construction phase of this referendum.

The "Middle Ring Southwest" project was divided into five lots. The western section up to Friedrich-Hebbel-Straße / Höglwörther Straße was the construction lot D and was carried out in a low position (seven meters below ground level) and expanded with three lanes in each directional lane. About 600 meters of the eastern section of the route to Passauerstraße were led in a tunnel (tunnel Heckenstallerstraße) and formed the construction lot E.

The construction work on the tunnel was completed in 2015, the official opening took place on July 25, 2015 with a festival.

The costs of the “Mittlerer Ring Südwest” construction project with Garmischer Strasse and tunnel, Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz and Heckenstallerstrasse and tunnel, as well as the various entrances and exits, totaled almost € 400 million.

Surface design

By 2017, the western part of Heckenstallerstraße ( lower position) was rebuilt according to the planning of the building department: The old Grabbebrücke (for pedestrians and cyclists) was demolished in April 2010 and replaced in April 2015 by a new, ground-level building over the now lower-lying Heckenstallerstraße. Soundproof walls were built on both sides of the middle ring.

There should be no more road traffic above the Heckenstallerstraße tunnel . The Heckenstallerpark was built in 2017 on the approximately 600 meter long section .

history

Heckenstallerstraße was built between 1959 and 1962. The area in front of Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz was previously assigned to Murnauer Straße.

From 2009 to 2015, the Garmischer Strasse tunnel was built between Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz and Murnauer Strasse, the route in Troglage to the Friedrich-Hebbel-Strasse / Höglwörther Strasse junction and the Heckenstallerstrasse tunnel to Passauerstrasse.

Namesake

Urban Heckenstaller was the secret secretary of the Bavarian electoral office in the 18th century. He was co-author of the manifesto that led to the Oberland uprising against the Austrians in the Sendlinger Murder Christmas 1705/06.

Remarks

  1. As part of the Mittlerer Ring, the Heckenstallerstraße is the outer boundary for the environmental zone of the city of Munich established on October 1, 2008 . However, it does not belong to this in order to avoid disadvantageous shifts in the flow of traffic.
  2. The "Olympiastraße" ( E 533 ) is a motorway up to the junction Munich-Kreuzhof (2) according to the road traffic regulations and is accordingly signposted with the traffic sign 330 ( Sign 330 - Autobahn, StVO 1992.svg), but is designated as B 2 according to the Federal Highway Act . (see list of motorways that are not federal motorways )
  3. Forecast traffic figures for 2015. They come from the expert opinion for the planning approval from 1999, prepared by Professor Kurzak.
