Heinrich Friedrich Dietrich Sigismund von Horn (born June 8, 1806 in Trechow , † December 18, 1883 in Glogau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Origin and family

Heinrich Friedrich Diedrich Sigismund was a member of the von Horn zu Ranzin family . His parents were the Prussian staff captain in the infantry regiment "Alt-Larisch" (No. 26) , since 1813 major in Mecklenburg-Schwerin services, Caspar Detlef Friedrich von Horn (1776–1839), and Elisabeth Amalie Charlotte, née von Plüskow (1787– 1867).

He married Malwine Philippine Helene Burckert (1815–1882), daughter of the Berlin Senior Medical Officer Johann Gottlieb Burkert, in Berlin in 1849. The marriage resulted in three children, including Erna Elisabeth Philippine (* 1851), married to Viktor Freiherrn von Grotthuss , captain à la suite of Infantry Regiment No. 40.

Career

Horn completed his school attendance from 1820 in Bützow, Mecklenburg . He began his career in the Prussian army in 1823 as a grenadier in the renowned Kaiser-Alexander-Grenadier-Regiment and in the same year advanced to portepeef ensign . In 1825 he was aggregated second lieutenant , was classified in 1829 and rose to prime lieutenant in 1841 . Since 1847 he was a captain and company commander and took part in the suppression of the revolutionary struggles in Berlin (1848) and Dresden (1849) . His promotion to Major in 1852 was followed by the position of 2nd Commander of the 1st Battalion ( Hamm ) of the 4th Guards Landwehr Regiment in 1855. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1857 and in 1858 was battalion commander in the 32nd Infantry Regiment . When he was promoted to colonel in 1859, he became the commander of the 9th Infantry Regiment and in the same year received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class. In the course of the January uprising in 1863 he was commanded to occupy the border in Poland . In 1864 he became the commander of the 18th Infantry Brigade under position à la suite of Grenadier Regiment No. 9 and then advanced to major general in 1864 . He received the Order of the Red Eagle II.
