Heinrich Philipp Julius August Alexander von Massow (born August 1, 1810 in Woblanse , † November 5, 1896 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

family

Heinrich was a member of the Pomeranian noble family von Massow . His parents were the Prussian major general Karl Friedrich Heinrich von Massow (1770-1851) and his wife Karoline, née von Favrat (1784-1868), daughter of the Prussian infantry general Franz Andreas von Favrat .

Military career

Massow visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . Subsequently, on July 29, 1829, he was transferred to the Guard-Jäger-Battalion of the Prussian Army as Oberjäger and advanced to Second Lieutenant by June 1831 . By mid-February 1850, Massow was promoted to captain and company commander and on July 25, 1857, was appointed as a major commander of the 7th Jäger Battalion in Frankfurt am Main . In 1860 the battalion moved to Kleve and Massow was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861 . As such he was from April 29, 1862 to May 2, 1864 commander of the fusilier battalion in the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm IV." (1st Pomeranian) No. 2 . Subsequently, initially charged with the command of the 2nd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 47 under position à la suite , Massow was appointed regimental commander on June 25, 1864 with the promotion to colonel . family

Massow had married Davide von Witzleben (1824-1895), daughter of Minister Jobst von Witzleben , in Berlin on November 2, 1850 . The marriage remained childless.
