Heinz Greiffenberger (born November 24, 1937 in Königsberg ) is a German entrepreneur.

Life

Greiffenberger was a refugee child and left school at the age of 14 to learn radio and television technicians in his father's company in Hamburg . He later worked at the port of Hamburg and earned the money for his dream of staying in Japan .

Entrepreneurial activity

In the early 1960s he went to Yokohama by ship in third class and stayed there for half a year. There he made his first connections to the Japanese electronics industry . After his return to Germany, this resulted in a sales company with a Hamburg entrepreneur, in which Greiffenberger had a minority stake. In the following years, as managing partner , he built up sales for the products of the Japanese consumer electronics group Matsushita and the Danish company Bang & Olufsen for the German market. Neither company was previously represented on the German market.

From 1971 , Heinz Greiffenberger headed Rosenthal Technik AG ( Rosenthal AG 75%, AEG 25%), one of the leading manufacturers on the world market for technical ceramics, for 11 years as the spokesman for the board . However, he preferred to be self-employed and founded his own company in 1981 by first acquiring and restructuring two ailing companies . Heinz Greiffenberger became known mainly because he managed to bring these two companies in need of restructuring with a total of around 1,000 employees to profitability in a very short time . He started with only 350,000 DM equity to the JN Eberle & Cie. GmbH , one of the oldest industrial companies in Augsburg . Other companies were later bought. In 1986 the group finally went public . Greifenberger led the holding of the resulting group GREIFFENBERGER AG as a major shareholder and sole director until 25. June 2003 and then moved to the Supervisory Board chair . His eldest son, Stefan Greiffenberger , was initially succeeded as a member of the Management Board, but from 2015 he was no longer available for this post for health reasons.

Political activity

In addition, Greiffenberger mainly dealt with questions of regulatory policy. He was a member of the Federal Government's Deregulation Commission , which existed from 1988 to 1990 . This submitted to the federal government proposals for a market economy, which to a large extent became cabinet resolutions. He was also a member of an independent expert commission of the federal government for the acceleration of investment approval procedures, which submitted its report in November 1994 (so-called "arbitration commission" ). In addition, Heinz Greiffenberger was a member of the Federal Government's Monopoly Commission from July 1996 to June 2000 .

In addition to these government commissions, Heinz Greiffenberger was a member of the Social Market Economy reform commission from 1997 to 1999 , which the three foundations Ludwig Erhard , Heinz Nixdorf and Bertelsmann had set up to propose reform approaches in the market economy sense. The papers that have received political attention include proposals to revise the financial constitution and to reform pensions .
