Henning Kober (born November 6, 1968 in Gießen ) is a German actor .

Life

Kober studied medicine in Frankfurt am Main and in Vienna as a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). During his free time in Vienna he played in the basement theater "Theater im Werkraum". There he came into contact with other actors and drama students and decided to study acting in addition to studying medicine. He took acting lessons at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz and Vienna. He worked as a doctor at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and finally as an actor at several German city and state theaters.

After graduating, Kober accepted an engagement at the Hanover State Theater . In the 1996/97 season Kober played as a permanent member of the Landesbühne Hannover. There he appeared as Davison in Maria Stuart , as Tranio in The Taming of the Shrew , as Adler in The Birds , as Almaviva in Figaro's Wedding and as Beckmann in Outside the Door . In 1996 he played Ludovico in Bertolt Brecht's Leben des Galilei in a touring production by Euro-Studio Landgraf .

From 1999 to 2001 Kober was a member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Konstanz , where he appeared in a stage version of Der Zauberer von Oz , as Faust in Faust.Gretchen , an adaptation of the Faust material based on motifs by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , as Schnauz in A Midsummer Night's Dream and when Jörgen Tessmann appeared in Hedda Gabler .

From 2001 to 2004 Kober played at the Staatstheater Oldenburg among others Baron Tusenbach in Drei Schwestern , Maitre Jacques in Der Geizige , Malvolio in Was ihr wollt and Der Wetter vom Strahl in Das Käthchen von Heilbronn .

Another permanent engagement at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen followed from 2004 to 2006 . There, Kobers roles included: Adalbert von Weislingen in Goethe's Götz von Berlichingen and Antonio in William Shakespeare's Der Sturm .

He has been working as a freelance actor since 2006. In 2006, he played at the Palace Theater Moers doctorate in Woyzeck by Georg Buchner . In 2008 he played the stranger in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera fragment Zaide in a production of the Konstanz Chamber Opera . In October 2008 he performed at the FEZ-Berlin. In the summer of 2013 he worked at the opening of the season of the Deutsche Oper Berlin as a newscaster in the music theater project Himmelsmechanik - Eine Deortung by Mauricio Kagel ; This project was led by the Berlin artist collective “phase7” with director Sven Sören Beyer . This collaboration continued in 2015 with the project "Overcoming Borders" on the occasion of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of German reunification in Frankfurt am Main and in 2019 at the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Wall at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

He also worked in several television productions and in international cinema productions, including the Hollywood production Ein Russischer Sommer (2009) alongside Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer , in the Russian production Die Ballade vom Bomber (Смотреть баллада о бомбере) (2010) and in Operation Perpetuum Mobile (2010). On television he was among others in 112 - You save your life (2008), in KDD - Criminal Permanent Service (2007), in Anna und die Liebe (2009), in the international series Hotel 13 (2012), Lena Lorenz (2015), Dengler (2015) and Der Kriminalist (2018). The film A Fish Swimming Upside Down with Kober in the leading role had its world premiere at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival 2020 .

Henning Kober also works extensively as a reciter with literary programs and readings. He also recorded several radio plays and audio books . Among other things, he worked in the radio play production Der Geisterseher by Friedrich Schiller and read ETA Hoffmann's Das steinerne Herz .
