Henry Vere Huntley

Sir Henry Vere Huntley (* 1795 in Gloucestershire ; † May 7, 1864 in Santos , Brazil ) was born in 1795 as the third son of the Reverend Richard Huntley in Gloucestershire, Great Britain . He joined the Navy in 1809 and in 1839 was appointed lieutenant governor of the Gambia colony , which was then headed from Freetown ( Sierra Leone ) as British West Africa . In 1841 he was a Knight Bachelor for beaten knight . On November 13, 1841, he became the ninth Governor of Prince Edward Island , an office he held until November 1, 1847. He died on May 7, 1864 in Santos, Brazil.
