Thomas Prowse
Thomas William Lemuel Prowse (born August 31, 1888 in Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island , † 1973 ) was a Canadian businessman and politician . From 1950 to 1958 he was Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island.
The son of the House -Abgeordneten Lemuel E. Prowse studied at Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown. He later ran the family clothing company Prowse Brothers Ltd. Prowse was a member of Charlottetown City Council for eight years, and served as mayor from 1930 to 1932. As a member of the Prince Edward Island Liberal Party , he successfully competed in the legislative assembly elections in 1935 and remained a member of parliament until 1947. Governor General Lord Alexander swore in Prowse on October 4, 1950 as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. He held this representative office until March 31, 1958.
