Augustine Colin Macdonald (born June 30, 1837 in Panmure Island , Prince Edward Island , † July 16, 1919 in Charlottetown ) was a Canadian politician . For 18 years he was a member of the Canadian House of Commons . From 1915 until his death he served as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island.

Macdonald, son of Scottish immigrants, was a professional trader. In 1870 he was elected a member of the Legislative Assembly. Three years later he gave up his mandate to run as a Liberal Conservative in a lower house by- election. One year after the success in the lower house election in 1874 , however, a defeat followed. As a result, victories and defeats alternated; He was represented in the House of Commons from 1878 to 1882, then again from 1883 to 1887 and finally as a Conservative from 1891 to 1900. Governor General Lord Connaught sworn in Macdonald on June 2, 1915 as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. He held this representative office until his death.

His older brother Andrew Archibald Macdonald was a Canadian senator and also a lieutenant governor.
