Joseph Alphonsus Bernard

Joseph Alphonsus Bernard (born March 27, 1881 in Tignish , Prince Edward Island , † September 7, 1962 in Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island) was a Canadian entrepreneur . From 1945 to 1950 he was Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island.

The Acadians Bernard, grandson of the lower house -Abgeordneten Stanislaus Francis Perry , received training at a trade school. He ran the family business, Morris, Bernard and Co. , served as President of the Tignish Chamber of Commerce and as a recruiting officer. As a member of the Prince Edward Island Liberal Party , he successfully competed in the 1943 legislative assembly elections . Bernard remained MP for only two years, as Governor General Lord Athlone swore in him on May 30, 1945 as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. He held this representative office until October 4, 1950.
