Murdock MacKinnon
Murdock MacKinnon (born March 15, 1865 in Brooklyn , Prince Edward Island , † October 12, 1944 in Charlottetown ) was a Canadian politician . From 1919 to 1924 he served as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island.
MacKinnon received his secondary education at Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown . He then worked as a farmer and joined the Prince Edward Island Conservative Party . His political career began in 1897 when he was elected member of the Legislative Assembly . He was re-elected five times in a row, the last time in 1915. He was a member of the provincial cabinet of Prime Minister John Alexander Mathieson from 1911 to 1917 as Minister of Agriculture and Treasurer. Governor General Lord Devonshire swore in MacKinnon as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island on September 8, 1919. He held this representative office until September 8, 1924.
