In 2010 Herbert Hirschler marched 1100 kilometers on the Ruta del Norte (also: Camino de la Costa and Camino del Norte ), on the coastal variant of the Camino de Santiago from Hendaye (France) to Santiago de Compostela and on to Finisterre and Muxía ( Camino a Fisterra ) - and wrote about it the book Himmel, Herrgott, Meer, Musik , which was published in early September 2011 by the Austrian Leykam book publisher. In addition to a humorous and authentic report on pilgrimage life, this book also contains articles on the pilgrimage and arrival of hits and folk music interpreters such as Marianne & Michael , Franz Brei , Joakin Stufer from the Ladiner , Markus Wolfahrt from the Klostertaler , Fritz Willingshofer from the Stoakogler and Melanie Oesch von Oesch contain the third. Himmel, Herrgott, Meer, Musik developed into the standard book for the northern Spanish coastal path and is currently available in the 4th edition (2020).

In 2016 he was on the road again - this time on one of the paths on the Caminho Português . The first 500 kilometers he marches directly on the Atlantic on the Trilho das Areias from Lisbon to Porto. This route is not an official Camino de Santiago, it would lead from Lisbon through the interior via Coimbra. The Trilho das Areias is a conglomerate of various hiking trails, including the pilgrimage to Fatima. The path was actually invented by the Spaniard Luis Freixo for a pilgrim with walking disabilities, Anne Chantal, and recorded using GPS and leads largely directly along the coast of Portugal. Wheelchair-accessible bike paths and road sections can usually be bypassed on narrow footbridges over the cliffs or directly on the beach , but there are a few sections where you have to hike on asphalt stretches of up to 20 kilometers. After Porto, Herbert Hirschler made another 250 kilometers on the Caminho da Costa to Santiago de Compostela.

A year later he published his 2nd travel book Himmel, Herrgott, Portugal with Leykam . For the first time there was also a song for the book - Herbert Hirschler wrote the text for Step by Step on the Way of St. James on the way , Hannes Marold composed the music and the South Tyrolean Grand Prix of Folk Music Winners The Ladins recorded the title and published it on their new one Production in autumn 2017. A download link in the book Heaven, Lord God, Portugal made it possible for all readers to listen to this song as early as spring 2017.
