Michael Christian Hermann bulk (* 16th July 1866 in Lübeck ; † 17th January 1928 ibid) was senior director of CF & Co bulk .

Life

origin

The Lübeck businessman Heinrich Nicolaus Schütt, Hermann's great-grandfather, ran a ship brokerage business as early as 1814. When he died, the business passed to his son, who was born on September 25, 1808.

On June 28, 1831, Johannes Christian Friedrich Schütt founded the company CF Schütt & Co. in the house at Breiten Straße 780 (now 21). As a far-sighted and active businessman , he earned a high degree of esteem from his fellow citizens. As a merchant , he represented the Svea and Halland lines and devoted his specialty to trade with Sweden .

From 1864 he was in the father city administration, he was a bourgeois deputy in the Central Billing Commission until April 23, 1870, a leading member of the military department . Almost a year later, on April 22, 1871, he was elected to the city's billing commission as a civil deputy and remained so until April 21, 1883.

On March 18, 1872, at the highest cabinet order , the ship clearer was awarded the Order of the Crown, 4th Class with the Red Cross on a white field on the commemorative ribbon , for his outstanding achievements in the field of nursing during the Franco-German War . He was a member of the warrior club and was later made an honorary member.

For the survivors of the boat that capsized on November 22, 1875 in the Travemünder roadstead , a committee was set up on the 24th, to which Schütt also belonged, to collect contributions.

In the Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities , he was involved in the common endeavor and the establishment of the bathing establishment and became a member of the supervisory board in its administration. At the general assembly of the Lübecker Bade-Anstalt corporation on April 23, 1879, he resigned from its supervisory board and was re-elected the following year. At the general assembly on March 24, 1882, he resigned from the supervisory board. At the general assembly on April 30, 1885, Dr. Wichmann was elected to the supervisory body to replace the person who died in the previous year.

Medal of honor of the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his business, the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce awarded him with the large gold medal of honor as “a testimony to high esteem and recognition of his great merits in maintaining the transport route with Sweden that is so important for Lübeck at a time when the steamboat connection there was endangered. ”Sweden's king also paid tribute to his tireless drive by awarding the Kgl. Wasaorden's full appreciation.

Schütt died on July 6, 1884.

Louis

Louis Schütt was born Heinrich Gotthard Ludwig on May 21, 1835 , joined the ship brokerage company as a partner on March 1, 1863 and, like his father, participated actively and successfully in the company's business and in public life.

At the general meeting of the Nautical Society held on February 14, 1876 , Louis was re-elected to its board. With him and three captains a commission for the formation of a local school ship association was formed in Lübeck . For 1878 he was on March 4th d. J. elected as auditor for the internal audit .

At the meeting of the merchants' union on May 25, 1880, he was proposed for election to their executive committee and later elected. At the meeting of the merchants, in addition to the determination of the honorary salary of the newly elected President Lange, the ship brokers Burmeister, Jäde and Schütt were proposed for the election of a new member of the Chamber of Commerce on July 19, 1889.

The general assembly of the Lübeck Schiller Foundation Association elected him on October 17, 1880 as its auditor. At the general assembly on December 10, 1893, he was re-elected as its auditor in place of the outgoing Hermann Otte , director of Commerz-Bank in Lübeck . On 29 May 1895, when he rotational basis to retire, was Adolf Erasmi , owner of bonbons, marzipan and sugar confectionery factory F. Vorbeck , was elected auditor.

The election committee for the by-elections of the citizenry elected him on April 20, 1881 as assessor of the second electoral district ( MMQ ). At the meeting of the citizens' committee on December 27, 1882, he was elected deputy member of the replacement commission. In the citizenship election of the 1st electoral district ( Jakobi Quartier and Vorstadt St. Gertrud ), 619 (67.45%) of the 917 eligible voters cast their votes in the citizenship election on June 16, 1893 . Schütt received 1 vote.

Navigation school with Kaisertor

When Friedrich Esmarch , surgeon and founder of the civil Samaritan system, gave a lecture in 1885 in the merchant class , he personally addressed the local chairman of the Red Cross and suggested that she receive instructions on Samaritan service . A corresponding association met on March 5th, chaired by Louis and Carl Türk . It was proposed to make this compulsory for the helmsmen at all seaman's schools on the German coast . At the instigation of Senator Johannes Fehling , who was responsible for the matter, the instructions in the Lübeck navigation school at the Kaisertor were the first to be mandatory in Germany. The Red Cross provided doctors and teaching equipment for this until 1892, after which the state took over.

At the general meeting of the public limited company Lübecker Bade-Anstalt on April 30, 1885, Louis was elected to its supervisory board.

The office was relocated to Untertrave 12 in 1882 , closer to the harbor.

The call for donations through the sale and raffle of funds for heating the Marienkirche was also signed by Louis.

On its 75th anniversary, the commercial association “Concordia” received 1,000 marks from the Chamber of Commerce and its members gave their long-time chairman, Louis, a precious silver centerpiece in recognition of his 25-year-old in the management of the association .

On the morning of June 18, 1903, Louis died after a long illness , leaving behind his wife Hermine , née Freiin von Starkloff, and his sons. On the occasion of his death, many of the ships in the harbor raised their flags at half-mast .

Wilhelm Ludwig

Ten years after his brother, the businessman, and the death of his father in 1903, his second son, the shipowner , also took over the company as a partner. After Herrmann's death in 1928 he became the owner . In 1931 the company celebrated its 100th anniversary.

At the Untertrave 12/13

In the year after the office was relocated to Untertrave 12, today 12/13, Hermann Schütt joined the ship brokerage company in 1883. Ten years later he became a partner and in the same year became a member of the Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities .

The company CF Schütt & Co. , which flourished under his father , was continued by him and his brother Wilhelm, who took over as partner ten years later after his father's death. They expanded the brokerage, shipping company and chartering departments and added insurance as a new and important branch of the company.

On June 18, 1906, the third anniversary of the senior boss's death, the 75th anniversary of the old Lübeck shipping company , ship broker and insurance company , which had been run in sacred traditions for three quarters of centuries, was celebrated. At that time it had numerous company connections leading to the north. Those to Denmark and Sweden had been intensified and regular connections with Finland had been added. Many shipping lines and connections had been added to the port of Lübeck .

During the World War , Schütt attached great importance to the daily connections with the neutral Scandinavia . Germany was supplied with raw materials and food in this way .

After the war, Schütt was one of the most eager to receive what had been achieved in the port of Lübeck and who tried to acquire new things. In addition to the Halland company and the Svea line, they also represented and looked after the North German Lloyd .

The founders of the Employers Association of Employers of the port also included bulk. From the beginning he was part of its administrative committee . He was also a member of the board of directors of the shipping association.

On the morning of January 17, 1928, Schütt died unexpectedly of a stroke . The funeral ceremonies took place on January 20th at the Burgtorfriedhof .

Schütt was married to Anna. The marriage had a daughter, Sophie.
