Herwig Zamernik (* 1973 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musician ( Fuzzman , Naked Lunch and Disharmonic Orchestra ), producer and label owner. He has lived and worked in Vienna again since 2015 and runs his own recording studio , the Fuzzroom.

life and work

Zamernik was born in Vienna as the second of three children, the family moved to Friesach in Carinthia , and he himself later moved to the provincial capital of Klagenfurt . In 2015 he came back to Vienna. Zamernik's longstanding partner is the actress Jutta Fastian .

As a child shaped by Abba and the Beatles , as a teenager he discovered (heavy) metal and its various, sometimes extreme forms of play. He joined the Trio Disharmonic Orchestra in 1988 with a bass guitar that was bought mainly because of its low price . Between grindcore , death metal and avant-garde metal, the band released a number of internationally acclaimed records, most of them on the Nuclear Blast label . In 2008 Zamernik left the band. In 1992 he joined Naked Lunch as a bass player . Since then he has formed the creative core of the group with Oliver Welter (vocals, guitar), with whom he has released five studio albums so far, most recently All Is Fever in 2013 on the Hamburg label Mural Records . Since the album Songs for the Exhausted , which was released in 2004, the production and implementation of the naked lunch music has been carried out in Zamernik's Fuzzroom studio. Under Naked Lunch, film music was created for the episode Bis in den Tod of the Austrian mystery series 8 × 45 (2006), for the two films about Franz Fuchs - A Patriot (2007) by Elisabeth Scharang and for Thomas Woschitz ' Universalove (2008). In 2015 the music for Jack became a poet, lover, murderer. again with Elisabeth Scharang, contributed. There are also works in the theater sector. In 2007 Zamernik wrote the music for the production Nordost by Torsten Buchsteiner , performed in the Kosmos theater .

Together with his manager Stefan Redelsteiner he runs the indie label "Lotterlabel" and the " Schlager " label "San Tropez Records".

Fuzzman

Herwig Zamernik has appeared as Fuzzman since 2005 . He released several albums and vinyl singles of his artistic alter ego. In 2008 "Fuzzman 2" was released by Living Room Records / Hoanzl, which includes the track "Mei Liabale - Meine Liebe" based on a Carinthian folk song. In 2012, Trust Me Fuckers appeared on the “Lotterlabel” founded by Zamernik and Matthias Euler-Rolle. Among other things, Fuzzman was named "Artist Of The Week" on Radio FM4. In 2014 the album Fuzzman & The Singin Rebels was released , again on lotter label, which Zamernik then operated alone. The Wanda discoverer Stefan Redelsteiner has been on board as a 50 percent label owner and manager since 2015 . The ten songs like Leb Wohl Cherie or Totenblocken sound differently go even more in the direction of “anarchist hits” with intact indie sensitivity. The album was presented live in the Wiener Stadtsaal , among others . In May 2014 the quartet played a concert in the Klagenfurt correctional facility in the presence of many imprisoned people and two federal ministers. In addition, Fuzzman appeared at walking concerts and guerrilla walks by the Viennese artist Oliver Hangl. Zamernik / Fuzzman also works on various film and television music and for the theater. In 2014 he wrote the music for Lampedusa , a music theater happening by Bernd Liepold-Mosser, which was performed in the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and in the State Theater Niederösterreich in St. Pölten . In 2016, he was able to win a special boy band , the men's choir Obermillstatt , for the crossover Für ein Handvoll Gras . In 2017 Zamernik composed the music for the next Liberty piece "The Big Jump". In spring 2019, the Singin 'Rebels album was released, Hands Away From Everything , which encompasses a wide range of genres, dialect dialect, Beatles sound as well as funk and electronics. The Wiener Popfest 2020 is curated by Fuzzman and Esra Özmen.

Fuzzroom

In addition to his work as a musician, Zamernik produces Austrian and international artists in his studio Fuzzroom in Klagenfurt. These include Kreisky , Monta , Fred Schreiber , The Incredible Staggers , The Very Pleasure , Paul Buschnegg (PAULS JETS) and Pippa Galli .
