Hilary A. Bush

Hilary Ashby Bush (born July 21, 1905 in Excelsior Springs , Missouri , †  May 11, 1966 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) was an American politician . Between 1961 and 1965 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Missouri.

Career

Hilary Bush attended William Jewell College until 1926 . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Kansas City and his admission as a lawyer in 1932, he began to work in this profession. He was a Jackson County attorney in the 1940s and 1950s . During the Second World War he was a lieutenant colonel in the US Army . At the end of the war, he became the military governor of Aomori Prefecture in Japan . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Bush was also a member of the American Bar Association and was a Freemason .

In 1960 Bush was elected Lieutenant Governor of Missouri alongside John M. Dalton . He held this office between January 9, 1961 and January 11, 1965. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1964 he failed in the gubernatorial election of his party. He died on May 11, 1966 while visiting family in Milwaukee.
