Joe Maxwell

Joe Maxwell (born March 17, 1957 in Kirksville , Missouri ) is an American politician . Between 2000 and 2005 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Missouri.

Career

Joe Maxwell graduated from High School in Laddonia and then studied at the University of Missouri . In 1990 he graduated from the same university with a law degree. In the meantime, he worked as a postman and small business owner, running a small business with his twin brother. Between 1975 and 1995 he was a member of his state's National Guard. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1990 and 1994 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives ; from 1994 to 2000 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 2000, Governor Mel Carnahan died in a plane crash. Then his lieutenant governor Roger B. Wilson was his successor in the highest office of the state. New elections were advertised for the vacated post of lieutenant governor, which Joe Maxwell won. He held the post of Vice Governor between November 15, 2000 and January 10, 2005. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 2001, he served under the new Governor Bob Holden . Today Joe Maxwell is a lawyer in a law firm in Mexico City . He is also CEO of Heritage Acres Foods and a member of the board of directors of Missourians for a Balanced Energy Future . Maxwell is married and has two daughters.
