Frank Gaines Harris

Frank Gaines Harris (born April 25, 1871 in Columbia , Missouri , †  December 30, 1944 there ) was an American politician . Between 1933 and 1944 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Missouri.

Career

Frank Harris attended Kirksville Normal School , now Truman State University . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Missouri and his admission as a lawyer in 1898, he began to work in Columbia in this profession. For some time he was a police judge and from 1903 to 1909 District Attorney in Boone County . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . He was first a member of the Missouri House of Representatives and then sat on the State Senate .

In 1932, Harris was elected Lieutenant Governor of Missouri alongside Guy Brasfield Park . He held this office after two re-elections between January 9, 1933 and his death on December 30, 1944. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Between 1937 and 1941 he served under the new governor Lloyd C. Stark and then under his successor Forrest C. Donnell . To date, he holds the tenure record of the Missouri Lieutenant Governors. Frank Harris had three children with his wife, Grace.
