Walter Naylor Davis

Walter Naylor Davis (born November 29, 1876 in St. Louis , Missouri - †  September 16, 1951 ) was an American politician . Between 1945 and 1949 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Missouri.

Career

Walter Davis attended the Smith Academy in St. Louis until 1894 and then studied until 1898 at Vanderbilt University . After completing a law degree at Saint Louis University and being admitted to the bar in 1900, he began working for the law firm Bates, Blodgett, Williams & Davis . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 1923 and from 1927 to 1931 he held the office of Commissioner of the Missouri Supreme Court .

In 1944, Davis was elected Lieutenant Governor of Missouri alongside Phil M. Donnelly . He held this office between January 8, 1945 and January 10, 1949. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . He died on September 16, 1951 and was buried in St. Louis.
