Kenneth J. Rothman (* 11. October 1935 in St. Louis , Missouri ; † 26. April 2019 ibid ) was an American politician . Between 1981 and 1985 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Missouri.

Life

Ken Rothman attended public schools in his home country. He then studied history and political science at Washington University in St. Louis. After studying law at the same university and being admitted to the bar, he worked first as a public prosecutor and then as a lawyer. Between 1953 and 1962 he was also a member of the Air National Guard . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1962 and 1980 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives . Since 1977 he worked as successor to Richard J. Rabbitt its President . Before that he headed the Democratic Group from 1973 to 1977.

In 1980, Rothman was elected Lieutenant Governor of Missouri. He held this office between January 12, 1981 and January 14, 1985. He was Deputy Republican Governor Kit Bond and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1984 he unsuccessfully applied for the office of governor. After serving as Lieutenant Governor, he returned to practice as a lawyer and most recently worked for the law firm Capes, Sokol, Goodman and Sarachan PC . His ex-wife Geri Rothman-Serot was the Democratic candidate for election to the US Senate in 1992 , but was defeated by Kit Bond.
