Roger B. Wilson

Roger B. Wilson (born October 10, 1948 in Boone County , Missouri ) is an American politician . He was the 52nd governor of Missouri between October 2000 and January 2001.

Early years and political advancement

Wilson attended Central Methodist College in Fayette after elementary school until 1977 . He then studied at the University of Missouri . He then worked as a teacher. Wilson is a member of the Democratic Party . In 1979 he was elected to the Missouri Senate, to which he served for 20 years.

Missouri governor

In 1992 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state as his party's candidate . So he was Deputy Governor Mel Carnahan . After his death in a plane crash in October 2000, Wilson had to end the remaining term of office Carnahan, who was applying for a seat in the US Senate at that time . During his time as lieutenant governor and governor, he served as chairman of the Missouri Tourism Commission and the Rural Economic Development Council, among others . Wilson's main focus was on economic development, school policy and efficient administration.

After the late Mel Carnahan received the most votes in the Senate election, Wilson named his wife Jean as his successor.

Another résumé

In 2004, Wilson became chairman of his Missouri party. He held this position until 2007. Roger Wilson is married and has two children with his wife Pat.
