Wilson Brown (politician)

Wilson Brown (born August 27, 1804 in Anne Arundel County , Maryland , †  August 27, 1855 in Cape Girardeau , Missouri ) was an American politician . Between 1853 and 1855 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Missouri.

Career

Nothing is known about Wilson Brown's youth and schooling. In 1827 he came to Missouri, where he first settled in New Madrid County . Soon after, he moved to Scott County . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . He served in the Missouri House of Representatives in 1838 and 1839 . In August 1852 he became a State Auditor .

That same year, Brown was elected Lieutenant Governor of Missouri alongside Sterling Price . He held this office between January 3, 1853 and his death on August 27, 1855, his 51st birthday. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate .
