Honschaft Sand (Amt Porz)
The Honschaft sand was from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, a Honschaft yet parish ( parish sand ) in the Office Porz in the Duchy of Berg .
From the chart of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 by Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking it emerges that the parish village of Sand was the titular place of the honor and the parish. The honor was assigned to the Gladbach messenger office and the Bensberg Higher Court . In the Wiebeking map of 1789 the limits of the Honschaft Sand are shown; it corresponds roughly to today's district sand.
At the time, the residential areas of Alte Dombach , Eicherhof , Greuel , Igeler Hof , Oberlerbach and Sand belonged to the honors . The honors also had three exclaves: Obersand , embedded in the honors Dürscheid with Blissenbacher Hof , Weyermühle and Meiswinkel , an exclave around Oberthal and an exclave with Kaltenbroich , embedded in the Herkenrath honors .
In 1797 252 inhabitants, 43 fireplaces, 452 Bergische acres of arable land, 63 berg. Morning meadows, 464 mountains. Acres of forest, as well as four horses and 144 oxen and cows recorded.
Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the Porz office was dissolved and Sand was politically assigned to Mairie Gladbach in the canton of Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein arrondissement . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Gladbach in the Mülheim am Rhein district .
