Hop mile
The Hopfenmeile is a trotting track in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm in Upper Bavaria .
history
The first races with trotters were held in the Hallertau hop region as early as 1921 . After the Second World War , however, this tradition came to a standstill.
Today's racetrack was built in 1981 at the instigation of the brewery owner Sebastian Urban , who later became chairman of the Upper Bavarian Trotting Club . The then Bavarian Agriculture Minister Hans Eisenmann started the first race . A year later, a grandstand house with over 600 seats was put into operation and in 1983 a festival hall with catering was completed.

- The track measures 804.5 meters in length. This is the equivalent of half an English mile .
- 43 event days take place annually from mid-March to the end of December.

In May 2003, Dagmar Wagner shot the documentary Horses, Money and Passion for Bayerischer Rundfunk : The Hop Mile .
