history

In 1954 the trotting track was laid out around the former Haus Bärenkamp estate.

As early as 1948, the newly founded trotting club had been building a trotting track at Bärenkamp in Dinslaken. At that time the area was used for agricultural purposes. However, the generally poor food situation prompted the city council to postpone these plans for the time being.

The 800 m track covers an area of 17,000 m². 3600 cubic meters of earth had to be moved during construction. 2850 m³ of boiler ash were approached and installed. In addition, a grandstand , a scale, toilets, the totos counter and over thirty horse stalls were built.

In 1969 the new grandstand was opened.

In 1972 the trotting track was the first in Europe to be equipped with a plastic slope.

The buildings of the trotting track are used today for various events.

The stables on Alleestraße and Bärenkampallee were demolished in 2011 for the construction of a residential complex and an elderly care facility.

Since 2013, exams of the University of Duisburg have been taking place in the grandstand house and the Dinslaken high schools have also been using the facilities of the trotting track for years to hold their exams.

Track length

It is Germany's only half-mile harness racing track and the length of the track at 800 meters is the shortest in Germany. This creates a unique atmosphere at the racetrack.
