The Huacchis district is located in the Huari Province in the Ancash region of western Peru . The district was established on December 14, 1954. It has an area of 76.8 km². The 2017 census counted 1503 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2124, in 2007 it was 2055. The district administration is located in the 3491 m high village of Huacchis with 332 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huacchis is 45 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Huari .
Geographical location
The Huacchis District is located in the extreme northeast of the Huari Province. The Río Marañón flows along the northeastern district boundary to the northwest.
The Huacchis district borders in the extreme southwest on the Singa district ( Huamalíes province ), in the west on the Anra and Paucas districts , in the extreme north on the Cochabamba district ( Huacaybamba province ), in the northeast on the Arancay district (Huamalíes province) and in the southeast to the Rapayán District .
