Hugo Valente (born June 17, 1992 in Choisy-le-Roi ) is a French racing driver . He competed in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) from 2012 to 2015 .

Career

Valente began his motorsport career in 2006 in kart racing , in which he was active until 2007. In 2008 Valente switched to formula racing in the Formul'Academy Euro Series . He finished his debut season in eighth place with a win. In 2009 Valente started for SG Formula in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . While Jean-Éric Vergne , one of his teammates, took second place, Valente was 24th in the drivers' standings with an eighth place as the best result. He also competed for SG Formula in the Western European Formula Renault . With a fifth place as the best result, he finished the season in eleventh place overall, while his team-mate Vergne came in second overall. He also took part in kart races. In 2010 Valente switched to Tech 1 Racing and stayed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. Valente achieved second place as the best result and was twelfth in the championship. His team mates Arthur Pic and Aaro Vainio took third and fourth place. Valente also took part in a British Formula Renault race weekend.

After Valente returned to karting in 2011, Valente switched to touring car racing in 2012 . For Clairet Sports he started in the French SEAT Leon Supercopa . He won three races and finished second behind his teammate Jimmy Antunes with 268 to 270 points. Subsequently, Valente received a SUNRED León 1.6T for an event at SUNRED Engineering in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). In 2013 Valente completed seven WTCC events for Campos Racing in a Seat Leon. He scored points for the first time with an eighth place. He finished 21st in the drivers' championship. In 2014 , Valente competed for the entire season in the WTCC for Campos Racing. He drove a Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 . At the season opener in Marrakech , he achieved his first podium finish in the WTCC with a third place. He repeated this result in two other races. In the world championship he improved to twelfth place. In 2015 , Valente stayed with Campos Racing in the World Touring Car Championship. With a second place as the best result, he reached ninth place in the overall ranking. In addition, he took part in a TCR International Series event for Campos in preparation for a WTCC race .
