IC 449 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E2 in the constellation Giraffe at the northern sky . It is around 163 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 80,000 light years.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 6, 1888 .
