IC 4598 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Scorpio in the southern sky . It is an estimated 162 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light-years across.
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on July 16, 1903 .
