IC 5017 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / r in the constellation Indians in the southern sky . It is an estimated 334 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 2002dm was observed here.
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 17, 1904 .
