IC 5005 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 142 million light years from the Milky Way and has a disk diameter of about 80,000 light years.
Together with NGC 6907 and IC 4999 , it forms the NGC 6907 group or LGG 436 .
The object was discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard .
