- Note on the names
Various systems are in use for the Latin transcription of Chinese characters. Since 2009, Hanyu Pinyin , the official transcription in the People's Republic of China, has also been used in the Republic of China for transcribing place names, with the exception of the names of the cities, districts and urban districts under the government, for which the internationally used transcriptions (mostly Wade-Giles ) be used. In addition, is still Tongyong Pinyin , which until 2008 official romanization used.
