Ilse Bally (born February 3, 1914 , in Basel ; † December 13, 2007 in Darmstadt ) was a Swiss actress , dubbing and radio play speaker . She was honored as an honorary member of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg , where she was a member of the ensemble for 58 years from 1942 .

Life

Bally was born as the daughter of Rudolf Franz Ulrich and Frieda Bally into a wealthy family of manufacturers ( Bally shoes ). In 1942 she was engaged at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus and played alongside Erich Schellow , Gustav Knuth and Hans Mahnke , among others . In 1955 Gustaf Gründgens became general manager, under him Bally played classical stage repertoire; including plays such as The Rape of the Sabine Women by Franz and Paul von Schönthan , Des Teufels General by Carl Zuckmayer and Die Weber by Gerhart Hauptmann .

In the 1950s she made a number of films , including The Lie with Will Quadflieg , Miracles still happen with Hildegard Knef and men of dangerous age with Liselotte Pulver . She has also worked as a voice actress for British feature films. In the 1960s, Bally only played a few guest roles in television series, after which she concentrated entirely on the theater. It wasn't until 1994 that she took on a recurring role in the RTL television series Sonntag & Partner with Christian Quadflieg , but the series was quickly discontinued.

In 2000, Bally retired after 58 years at the same theater.
