JJ Feild (* April 1978 in Boulder , Colorado as John Joseph Feild ) is a British - American actor .

Life

Born in Colorado, USA, JJ Feild moved back to England with his family (father Reshad Feild , British, mother American, two older brothers, one younger sister) after his birth . He grew up with his siblings in London . During school days he played in school theater performances. During his graduation from school he spent a lot of time with friends in London pubs and improvised plays by Bertolt Brecht and William Shakespeare with them . At the age of 17, JJ traveled through Tibet for a year with his older brother.

On his return he began his training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, which he successfully completed in 1999. JJ played his first minor television roles before starring in 2001 in Stephen Poliakoff's three-part film Perfect Strangers and the film Last Orders, directed by Frank Schepisi, in the role of Jack (as the young version of Michael Caine's character). In the same year he played Jack in the British film adaptation of the fairy tale Hans and the Beanstalk along with Vanessa Redgrave , Matthew Modine and Richard Attenborough .

In 2002 he played his first film role in Kathryn Bigelow's submarine drama K-19 - Showdown in the Deep . In the same year he shot the drama The Intended with the Danish Director Dogma 95, Kristian Levring, in the jungle of Malaysia . From 2003 onwards, JJ made a very long and labor-intensive commitment to Peter Greenaway's multimedia project Tulse Luper . He slipped into the role of Henry Tilney for the cinematic reissue of Jane Austen's book The Abbey of Northanger by the British television station ITV . The film Northanger Abbey ran in spring 2008 as part of the Jane Austen Season on the American broadcaster PBS . In 2009 there were three new film projects from JJ. In Telstar , a biographical film adaptation of the life of musician and producer Joe Meek , JJ starred as blonde Heinz Burt alongside Kevin Spacey, among others.
