Goal III - The Final

Goal! II (Alternative title: Goal II - Living the dream! ; Original title: Goal II: Living the Dream ) is the second in a football film - trilogy and the sequel Goal! . In 2009 the third and final part, Goal III - The Final, was published .

action

When Santiago Muñez, Newcastle United's best player , got the offer to play at Real Madrid from now on , he didn't have to think too long. As a native Mexican, he felt that he belonged to the club from an early age and has dreamed of this offer for years. His fiancée Roz Harmison is anything but enthusiastic about the sudden move and refuses to follow him to Spain.

On his first appearance for Real in a Champions League game, he scored the decisive 1-0 and became a fan favorite, while his friend and club mate Gavin Harris has not met in 14 games. Success at Real has made Muñez increasingly arrogant and selfish - he fires his long-time agent Glen Foy, his relationship with Roz deteriorates and his performance on the field eventually suffers.

One day his half-brother Enrique shows up and shows him a picture of his mother, who now lives in Spain and has started a new family after leaving Muñez's family years ago. Muñez eventually finds his mother and learns from her that she was leaving him because of an incident with his uncle.

Muñez then apologizes to Roz for his behavior. She is now pregnant, but is hiding it from him. In the Champions League final against Arsenal London, Real equalized with a goal from Muñez and Real won the game after a free kick from David Beckham.

backgrounds

Remarks

  • The final will take place in Real Madrid's Bernabéu , which is unusual. Because the places where the Champions League finals take place are allocated several years in advance.
  • Santiago can be seen in the film with an Audi A8 and a Lamborghini Gallardo .
  • A cameo by Kieran O'Brien (Hughie McGowan) can be seen in the half-time break between Real Madrid and Arsenal .
  • There is a picture of Michael Owen in the locker room , but by the time the film came out the player had already been sold, and at the beginning of the film, when Santiago moves to Real Madrid, it is announced that Michael Owen has been "swapped" for him in Newcastle .
  • In the final game, scenes from the real game were used and mixed with the newly shot film material.
  • “Supersub”, as Santiago is called in the film, was also used as a nickname for David Fairclough and Ole Gunnar Solskjær . Both have scored crucial goals in their careers after being substituted on.
  • In the Champions League final, Robert Pires gets the ball, but the commentator calls him Robin van Persie .
  • In the Champions League final, the Arsenal players wear the Champions League badges on the right side as usual, but in another scene you can see that they wear the badges on the left rather than the right.

Reviews

"Second part of a trilogy, which, despite considerable football sequences with real stars of this sport, is above all a brazen accumulation of clichés and sentiment."

"Fabulous dribbles and breathtaking goals in a high-gloss finish show the beauty of the game."
