The 1998/99 season was the 33rd season of the Japan Ice Hockey League , the highest Japanese ice hockey division . The Kokudo Ice Hockey Club became champions for the ninth time in the club's history . Top scorer with 64 points was Master Kokudo's Shin Yahata .

mode

In the regular season, each of the six teams played a total of 40 games. The four best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
