The defender denied from 1986 to 1994 among other 281 games for the Philadelphia Flyers , Los Angeles Kings , Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League . He won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in the 1992 playoffs .
Career
Jeff Chychrun ran in his youth for the Kingston Canadians in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and was elected to the League's Third All-Star Team in 1986 . Already in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft , the Philadelphia Flyers had selected him in 37th position, in whose organization he finally changed at the end of the 1985/86 season. For the time being, he was mainly used in the Flyers' farm team , the Hershey Bears , in the American Hockey League (AHL) and won the playoffs for the Calder Cup there in 1988 . With the beginning of the 1988/89 season, the defender established himself in Philadelphia's line-up and was henceforth regularly used in the National Hockey League (NHL), where he was mainly focused on the defense and bribed with physical play. At the end of his first NHL season he reached the conference final in the 1989 playoffs with the Flyers , but failed there at the Canadiens de Montréal and should not play another playoff game in the course of his career.
After a little more than five years with the Flyers, Chychrun and Jari Kurri were handed over to the Los Angeles Kings in May 1991 , who in return sent Steve Duchesne , Steve Kasper and a four-round vote for the 1991 NHL Entry Draft to Philadelphia. In Los Angeles he was only active half a season before the Kings transferred him to the Pittsburgh Penguins in February 1992 with Brian Benning and a first-round vote in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and received Paul Coffey for it. The Penguins won their second Stanley Cup in a row in the subsequent playoffs in 1992 , although Chychrun was not used, but was immortalized on the trophy after his 17 games in the regular season.
In November 1992, the Canadian returned to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Peter Ahola , before he was handed over to the Edmonton Oilers after a year and without further consideration in November 1993 . There he was mainly active for the AHL farm team, the Cape Breton Oilers , and ended his active career at the end of the 1993/94 season. In total, the defender had completed 281 games in the NHL and recorded 27 scorer points and 807 penalty minutes.
