Joseph-Claude "Joe" Gyau (born September 16, 1992 in Tampa , Florida ) is an American football player . The midfielder is under contract with MLS franchise FC Cincinnati .

Career

society

Gyau played in his youth for FC Delco and for the Bethesda Roadrunners . For the 2010/11 season Gyau moved to Germany for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . There he was mainly used in the second team, but was also a number of times in the professional squad and played a. a. a game in the DFB Cup . In the summer of 2012 , he was for a year in the second division at the FC St. Pauli awarded.

For the 2014/15 season , Gyau moved to Borussia Dortmund II . On September 24, 2014, he was part of the Bundesliga team when he came on for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 74th minute of the 2-2 draw against VfB Stuttgart .

In January 2017 Gyau joined the third division club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach , for which he was only able to score six goals in 50 competitive games.

After a year at MSV Duisburg , with whom Gyau was relegated to the 3rd division in spring 2019 , he returned to his homeland in the USA in the summer after nine years. There he signed the MLS franchise FC Cincinnati .

National team

Gyau played on several United States youth national teams. In November 2012 he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time by Jürgen Klinsmann . However, he made his debut two years later, on September 3, 2014 in a friendly against the Czech Republic .

Joseph-Claude "Joe" Gyau is the son of the former US national player Philip Gyau and the grandson of the Ghanaian soccer player Joseph "Nana" Gyau, who was active as a striker and midfielder in the 1960s and 1970s, especially in the NASL and ASL .
