Johann Georg von Lehmann (* 1688 in Güsten ; † December 9, 1750 in Kosel ) was a Prussian major general , regiment chief and fortress commander .

Life

origin

Lehmann was born as the son of the mayor zu Güsten Johann Lehmann (1657–1714) and Anna Christiane Friedrichs (1662–1696). He was raised by his stepmother Christiane Rosina Beckers .

There is disagreement about the legitimation of the nobility predicate regularly attributed to him . While Zedlitz awarded him a Prussian ennoblement from 1701, Ledebur and Kneschke separated him from the Lehmann family, which was ennobled in 1701. The latter attributes the earlier membership of the Prussian nobility to the entire family. His family owned the inherited estate in Güsten, which was otherwise a predominantly aristocratic privilege at that time. In any case, Priesdorff made it clear that there had been an ennoblement of Lehmann, which he could not determine at the time.

Military career

At the age of 18 Lehmann joined the infantry regiment “v. Silence ”(No. 20) and took part with the regiment in the war against France . During this time, he was promoted to ensign on March 18, 1709 and second lieutenant on March 13, 1713 . On May 19, 1715 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and took part in the siege of Stralsund in the same year . He was promoted to staff captain on October 19, 1718 and to captain and company commander on January 13, 1723, and finally to major on July 2, 1729 .

Lehmann received a feudal letter on April 15, 1733 about the fiefdoms of Eichenbarleben in the Wolmirstedt and Ackendorf , Hundisburg , Vahldorf and Rottmersleben districts , all of which were in the Neuhaldensleben district , which were freed by the death of Otto Johann von Landsberg . With royal permission, however, he ceded the goods to the brothers Georg Philipp and Alexander von Veltheim on December 25, 1735 .

On August 1, 1740 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. In the First Silesian War he fought at Mollwitzstraße and replaced from 17 April 1741 the fallen there Colonel Johann Benedict of Borcke as commander of the regiment. On May 28, 1743 he was appointed colonel before he was promoted to major general on October 30, 1745 and the new chief of the garrison regiment “v. Balancing “No. VI was. Most recently he was still in command of the Kosel Fortress (since December 1, 1745), taking five companies from his regiment with him to the garrison .

After he died at the age of 73 in Kosel, he was buried in the local parish church, probably St. Sigismund, under the cross altar .

family

In 1743, Lehmann married Margarete Elisabeth von Pfuel († April 30, 1758), the widow of Lieutenant Colonel Hans Martin von Bosse . The marriage remained childless. Since his two brothers also died without an heir, his sister Dorothea inherited his father's estate in Güsten, which she then passed on to the Salmuth family .
