Johann Gottlieb Lehmann (* 29. July 1781 in Quartschen at Fürstenfelde id Neumark , Brandenburg, † 3. October 1853 in Diedersdorf , Brandenburg) was a German jurist and district by district Lebus (1809-1816) and mayor of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) (1816-1837).

Life

His father was the Prussian councilor Karl Friedrich Lehmann (1745-1814). In 1799 Johann Gottlieb Lehmann was a law student at the Viadrina University in Frankfurt (Oder). From 1809 Lehmann officiated as district administrator until he took up the post of Lord Mayor in Frankfurt in 1816. He was confirmed in office three times: October 22, 1818, December 21, 1826 and January 16, 1834.

During his tenure, the municipal savings bank was founded in 1822 . The construction of the Neuer Markt (later Wilhelmsplatz) began in 1843 and the creation of the Lenné Park also fell into his tenure. From 1816, Frankfurt (Oder) also formed an independent district alongside the Lebuser district with the district town of Frankfurt. Later Frankfurt even became an independent urban district .

On July 24, 1837, he suddenly resigned before the end of his term of office and retired to his manor in Diedersdorf. He died there on October 3, 1853. He owned other goods in Ober-Görlsdorf and Lipke (Warthe).
